FAQ

1. What is Community Warehouse Project of Chester County ?

CWP is Chester County’s only nonprofit furniture bank. We collect gently used furniture and household items and deliver them to identified families and veterans in need – free of charge.

2. What are your hours to drop off donations ?

We have staff/volunteers at our warehouse on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9am-12pm to accept donations, every Third Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm. We can also schedule appointments to accommodate your schedule at other times if needed.

3. What is your address and why don’t you publish your address?

We will provide our physical address upon request. We do not publish our address in effort to prevent dumping of unwanted items at our site. We ask to see photos of most items before we accept them for donation to ensure the furniture is appropriate for our clients’ needs and spaces.

4. Do you pick up furniture?

We have a few volunteers that can arrange for donation pick up, depending on what the item is and where it is located. Please note, our organization has a total of 2 employees so we rely on volunteers to help us with donation pick-ups.

We require that the furniture be pre-approved first by CWP – donor must provide a photo of potential furniture donations.

We require that the furniture be on the ground floor, garage or outside for easy pickup.

We only arrange donation pick up within a 10 mile radius of zip code 19380.

If you have many items to donate, or cannot have the furniture on the ground level, we can provide the contact info for a moving company donor can hire to pick up the donations and deliver them to our warehouse.

5. Who receives the furniture?

Individuals, families and veterans in need in Chester County. Our clients are referred to us from service agencies in Chester County (ex- Housing Authority, Coatesville VA, etc.)

6. Do clients come to the warehouse to pick out their furniture?

Not anymore. CWP used to have clients come in and select their items but due to the large increase in request for our services, we are unable to continue to do so.

7. Why doesn’t CWP accept headboards and footboards?

They take up a fair amount of valuable space in our warehouse and it’s hard to keep track of the many large pieces. Also our clients usually have small bedrooms with little space for headboards and footboards. We are VERY appreciative of donations of simple metal bed frames!

8. How can I get involved?
